Dear Licensed Insolvency Trustee,

Last year was long and stressful. The only thing I’m looking for in 2019 is relief from the relentless financial burden that’s been plaguing me. You see, I’ve weathered some major financial setbacks and I’m not sure how to dig myself out of this bottomless black hole.

It all started when I lost my job around this time last year. You’ll be happy to hear I found new employment just two months later, but it doesn’t pay me nearly as well as my previous employer did. I fell behind on living expenses, and I’m embarrassed to admit I used credit cards and lines of credit to make ends meet.

Now the credit’s run out and I have no idea what to do.

I can no longer afford my day-to-day expenses, let alone my monthly financial obligations. The creditors are calling multiple times every day — they’re threatening to take legal action against me and even say they can garnish my already meagre income. If that happens, it will be impossible to put food on the table and clothing on my children’s backs.

This stress is taking a toll on my health. Should I fall ill there will be nobody to look after my family. I obsess and ruminate on this day and night and my anxiety has hit a breaking point.

I’ve resolved to fix my financial problems this year. I know my goals, but I know I can’t do it alone. I’m reaching out to you in hopes that you might provide the answers and support I need. The following is a list of things I need to achieve a financial fresh start in 2019. Would you be able to help me?

  1. A free initial consultation to discuss my financial situation with a debt professional, confidentially and without judgement.
  2. A list of potential debt-reduction options to give me hope for the future.
  3. A way to prevent my creditors from calling and threatening action against me.
  4. A way out of debt that doesn’t mean I will lose all my assets — like my home and car.
  5. Help and advice to rebuild my credit so I can once again rest my feet on solid financial ground.
  6. Help and advice to create a workable and realistic budget that plans for unexpected life events and prevents me from being in this position again.

Thank you for reading my letter. I truly hope you can help me make my New Year’s resolution come true, so my family and I can once again remember what it feels like to be debt free.
