How Is Citizenship Affected By A Bankruptcy

The latest update from Canada Immigration’s site is that you have to be discharged from your bankruptcy to apply for citizenship.  The same applies if you are going to sponsor a family member to come to the country.   Your bankruptcy won’t affect your family members applying for citizenship….this is their application.  But if you are any way involved in sponsoring them, then their application would be affected.   Canada Immigration’s site is site is www.cic.gc.ca.   Donna Carson, CGA, CIRP, Trustee Calgary and Central Alberta regions 1.877.500.0792      [email protected]
