Finding a Trustee in Remote Communities

Chances are that you will not be able to find a Trustee that resides in close proximity to your community.  While it is normally required that a Trustee conduct an assessment of your financial situation in person, it is possible for the Trustee to obtain permission from the Office of the Superintendent in Bankruptcy to conduct a "remote assessment" by telephone. For example, an individual residing in Thompson, Manitoba does not have to travel to Brandon or Winnipeg to meet with a Trustee in person.  In this case, the assessment would be completed by telephone.  A number of Trustees are identified by province on this website.  You may also refer to your yellow pages directory.
