As long as the mortgage payments continue to be made, there will be no effect on the credit rating at all. If you do have to file bankruptcy, you should call the bank/ credit union/ mortage company holding the mortgage and let them know that the payments will be made.

 August 20, 2019 – Underscoring Ontarians' financial vulnerabilities when it comes to debt, the latest official figures from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB) continue to reinforce the mounting strain on many households in the province. The number of Ontarians who filed for insolvency in the second quarter of 2019 was up 13.5 per cent compared to the same quarter of last year, the greatest increase compared to the other provinces besides Newfoundland. Compared to the first quarter of this year, insolvencies in Ontario were up 13.8 per cent.

Newfoundland And Labrador Consumer Insolvencies Jump 22 Per Cent In The Second Quarter, The Highest Increase In The Country

Underscoring financial vulnerabilities in Newfoundland and Labrador when it comes to consumer debt, the latest official figures from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB) continue to reinforce the mounting strain on many households in the province. The number of Newfoundland and Labrador residents who filed for insolvency in the second quarter of 2019 was up 22.4 per cent compared to the same quarter of last year, the greatest increase compared to the rest of the country. Consumer insolvencies in Newfoundland and Labrador were up 19.2 per cent compared to the first quarter of this year.
