Bankruptcy And Unemployment

2009-05-07

Yes...someone can file for bankruptcy when they are unemployed. In fact, with the economic situation as it is currently and more layoffs than in recent years, it is a common cause of financial troubles.  And sometimes a common cause of bankruptcy. I would recommend that you contact one of our Trustees in your region before your bills fall too far behind.  There are other options available besides a bankruptcy.  But the Trustee can also review how a bankruptcy would affect you as well.  Once actions are started by creditors, some of the other options may not be available to you any longer. Our list of our Alberta Trustees in your region can be found at http://www.mnpdebt.ca/contact/alberta/default.aspx.  Other provinces are on our home page at http://www.mnpdebt.ca/contact/default.aspx under the Contact Us link.
